“Local Sacremento band Prylosis got creative, using crowdfunding website kickstarter to raise over $2,000 for mastering and distribution of their second album. I spoke with bassist Jeff about how they made this a success and how other local bands can make the most of their own crowdfunding campaigns.

Using crowdfunding bands can reverse the traditional business model. Bands have the opportunity to sell their product before it’s been produced and then use the money raised to create it. They just need to pull in the supporters to help them meet their goal. Kickstarter is a popular example of a crowdfunding system.

Prylosis had already started pulling together a new album but needed funds to help get them across the finish line. As a local band, consistent pay can be hard to come by. They saw their opportunity after seeing a few other local bands running successful crowdfunding campaigns.
Building the campaign

You have to be very specific about what it is you are using the money for and what backers will get in return for their donations.

Your fans aren’t just giving you money. They’re putting down money upfront for a product they want to receive in the future. They’re giving you the funds you need to create the product they want. Read More»

“If White Minorities hadn’t started adding death growls to the mix of their set, Prylosis would’ve been the heaviest act of the night. They’re a rock/metal hybrid that goes about 80/20 on the singing/screaming ratio. They seem to have a good sense of humor about themselves and their vocalist is highly mobile. Dude ran by me like four times, which started something of a trend over the course of the two shows I hit up, where people would run off of the stage..and plow into me while doing it.

If you’re familiar with stuff played on the radio, then Prylosis will be right up your alley. Not heavy enough to offend, but with enough hooks to give listeners the ability to sing along.”

“I don’t know why Prylosis hasn’t been signed yet. Maybe they love their locals too much to leave us. I do know that they are one of those bands that has the talent and stage presence to blow the roof off of any show.I may not be an expert, but I know what I like and I know I’m not the only one. Prylosis has that familiar, yet unique sound that is hard to find. Reminiscent of bands like Metallica, Godsmack and Seether, yet they have managed to hone in on a style that is all their own and difficult for anyone to try to duplicate. The best way to describe their sound is – Full of interesting twists and turns. Music with cool melodies that lead into a metal grinding rhythm driven grittiness. A favorite for all walks of rock/metal fans. The lyrics and vocals are just as solid and unique; weaving a complete package that cannot be denied as one of Sacramento’s best. Look for upcoming shows later this summer after they finish their new album.

Band Members:

Mike King – Lead Vocals/Guitar
Carl Reed – Lead Guitar
Scott Krock – Rhythm Guitar/Backup Vocals
Jeff Emmerling – Bass Guitar/Backup Vocals
Joel Raymond – Drums

If you haven’t heard them, you can find tracks from their debut album, ‘Rebuilding the Broken’ on our music page or by clicking the link below… And don’t forget to keep an eye out for the their much anticipated album, ‘Moral Insanity’ coming out this summer.”

“Prylosis is a ground shaking behemoth of a band whose 3 electric guitars produce crushing riffs and guitar tones that are capable of drowning Godzilla’s most fiercest roar which then sends the oversized reptile running back to the bottom of the ocean!
The band has been on the move and making great headway as they smash through Music Battles and travel the West Coast. Their latest release “Rebuilding The Broken” can be found everywhere from itunes to Amazon. The band works hard and has several awesome plans brewing. The band is in the studio working with Matt from Sandman Productions on a new album and they have a huge gig at Whiskey A Go Go in L.A. for theMetal Sanaz birthday bash. Also March 30th they will be opening for Cold at the Boardwalk. The band has been in existence since 2004 and has faced numerous challenges throughout the years they’ve been together. Some of the members are service men and had been deployed to Iraq to help with the conflict in the middle east. After the members re-united they bagan working like mad on their ferocious brand of music. I appreciate the guys taking a little time out of their day to answer some questions! Read More»
